The White Sox have made their next round of spring cuts this afternoon.

RHP Chris Beck, RHP Tyler Danish, OF Willy Garcia, RHP Brad Goldberg, and LHP Giovanni Soto were optioned to Charlotte. C Alfredo Gonzalez was optioned to Birmingham. Finally, LHP Aaron Bummer and RHP Blake Smith were reassigned to minor league camp.

Beck, Smith, and Danish both spent time in the majors with the Sox last season and while there’s a chance we’ll see them again later this year, nothing in what we saw last season made them anything we’d really miss.

With Rhymer Liriano and Leury Garcia both out of options and Avisail Garcia not going anywhere, Willy Garcia was the odd man out in the outfield.

Brad Goldberg is returning to the US after Team Israel’s loss to Japan in the WBC.

Finally, Soto and Bummer were part of the LOOGY grab bag assembled for the bullpen this spring. It’s a bit of a surprise to see Soto heading off already, but that also says some good things about Jace Fry’s spring so far.

These moves leave 46 players officially in camp.
