At the tune of $26 million, the Chicago White Sox won the Luis Robert sweepstakes announcing the minor league deal officially today. The 19-year old phenom will be introduced at a press conference this early afternoon at 11:30 AM CT at Guaranteed Rate Field.
From the White Sox Press Release:
“We are excited to add Luis – another young, extremely talented and impactful prospect – to the White Sox organization,” said White Sox senior vice president/general manager Rick Hahn. “Luis has the potential to be a dynamic, five-tool player at the major-league level, and we look forward to watching him develop in our system over coming seasons. Luis will immediately be viewed as one of the top prospects in baseball, and his signing adds to the growing depth of quality young players within our organization.”
MLBPipeline.com has updated their Top 100 prospects to include Robert. He is ranked 27th which puts him as the 2nd best White Sox prospect according to MLBPipeline. The introductory scouting grades are: Hit: 50 | Power: 55 | Run: 65 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 55. The Chicago White Sox now have seven players on MLB's Top 100 prospects.
