Surprise Saguaros 10, Glendale Desert Dogs 9

Luis Basabe (LF): 0-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K

Luis Robert (RF): 2-for-5, 3 R, 1 RBI, 0 BB, 1 K

Laz Rivera (2B): 0-for-4, 1 BB, 0 K

Luis Robert is good — breaking news — and he paced Glendale to a 2-0 lead after the first inning. He drove in Ryan McKenna with an RBI infield single and then came around to score on a wild pitch.

In Luis Basabe’s second at-bat, after lining out in the first inning, he drove in Khalil Lee on a sacrifice fly, another fly ball he barreled up that was caught. It gave the Desert Dogs a 3-0 lead.

By the fifth inning, Glendale was up 3-1 when Luis Robert singled, this time to the outfield, though, as you can tell in the video, he did not exactly drive the ball.

Robert would come around to score later in the inning to make to give the Desert Dogs a 6-1 lead. Also in the fifth, Laz Rivera had one hell of an at-bat. The count started 0-2, but he was able to work a walk after 12 pitches. At one point, Rivera fouled off five straight pitches. Seems like Rivera’s 2.8 BB% is prime to improve next season.

After the fifth inning, Glendale had an 8-1 lead, however, that quickly changed. Surprise scored seven runs in three innings to tie the game at eight. In the 10th inning, the Saguaros tacked on two more runs, and that was the game as the Desert Dogs blew an 8-1 lead and lost, 10-9.
