Catcher Zack Collins has a big night at the plate; Kannapolis keeps on winning

Catcher Zack Collins showed signs of life with the bat on Tuesday, connecting for a pair of hits and driving in four runs for the Barons.

Rough night all around for Charlotte. They struggled at the plate with twice as many strikeouts (8) as hits (4), managing just one run and on the mound. Pinto only gave up two earned runs in his five innings, but walked four Bats, throwing only 50 of his 83 pitches for strikes in his first start for the Knights since being promoted from Winston-Salem on Friday. Danish didn’t fare much better, allowing two runs on three hits in his limited workload. Prior to the game, OF Daniel Palka was recalled by the White Sox, becoming the fifth player already this season to earn a promotion to MLB.

The Barons managed to bat around in the third inning with Collins hitting a 3-run double into the gap, followed by a Jimenez single and a Michalczewski double that turned a 4-0 deficit into a 6-4 lead. Zevala hit his team-leading fifth home run of the season. Guerrero struggled in the second inning, allowing four runs in the frame before settling down in the third. Turner struck out three in two innings for his first save of the season. With two errors in this one, Birmingham now has a league-leading 24 errors.


Winston-Salem Dash vs Lynchburg Hillcats postponed due to rain

Game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday starting at 5:30 PM ET.

In a rain-shortened affair, the I’s extended their winning streak to six games. Intimidators hitters managed to plate a run in three of seven innings with 2B Blackman leading the way with a pair of hits, including a double, one driven in and one run scored. CF Gonzalez also had a pair of hits and stole his third base of the season. Parke allowed eight hits in five innings but limited the damage to only two runs. Lewis pitched two perfect innings, striking out two, for his first save of the season
