- James Shields get the start for the White Sox today. Shields has been doing his best to eat innings this season (which is what the team wants), but he’s given up a lot of runs. The right-hander boasts a 6.17 ERA and 1.71 WHIP this year. I guess he doesn’t have Reynaldo Lopez’s ability to strand runners on base.
- Felix Hernandez gets the start for the M’s today. King Felix has only completed six innings in one of his five starts this season, so he’s been a bit vulnerable early on. His K/9 is also down a bit this year at 6.8 (he’s a career 8.4). The Sox will need to score more than zero runs to win today.
- Daniel Palka gets his first major league start today. Palka has tremendous power to all fields. He hit 109 home runs in his minor league career but struck out 642 times.
