It wouldn’t last:
Durham Bulls 11, Charlotte Knights 1
Charlie Tilson: 1-for-3, 2B, K
Jose Rondon: 2-for-4, K
Ryan Cordell: 0-for-3, 3 K
Casey Gillaspie: 1-for-4, R, 3 K
Matt Skole: 1-for-4, R, 3 K
Jake Elmore: 2-for-3, 2B, RBI ***MVP***
Chris Volstad: 4 2⁄3 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 40 GS, 67 pitches/36 strikes, loss
Robbie Ross: 0 IP, 2 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, HBP, 21 pitches/eight strikes, infinite ERA
Thyago Vieira: 1 IP, 2 K
It was a bad night for wannabe White Sox. Volstad, who was perfect on the spring but sent down anyway, cruised through four innings but was crushed in the fifth. Ross was even worse. Tyler Danish and Rob Scahill were pretty bad, too. And, finally, Cordell wore three Ks for the game. Ex-White Sox Micah Johnson was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Oh yeah, and Charlotte struck out 15 times, and walked once.
