Can we just forget that horrible first series and call this the true home opener?

So yeah, you’re getting the picture of what it’s like to play baseball in Chicago this early April.

Apparently there is a window of opportunity in which to play today’s game. That might be a window between a hellscape of ice and a wintry mix, Bear weather and a blizzard, or even frostbite and the emergency room.

But it’s a window, and the Tampa Bay Rays aren’t likely to remain 1-8 and on the Most Depressing Early Season Road Trip Ever for any future makeup date, so let’s play ball!

For the White Sox, Nicky Delmonico takes cleanup today, and Omar Narvaez starts, against the righty Chris Archer.

Also, wondering why Tyler Saladino is starting at DH instead of Bamm-Bamm batter Matt Davidson? Well, no answer may please you, but Saladino is 2-for-3 with a deep liner home run to left in his one start against him. Sure, the start was in 2015. And in August, not January April. What are you trying to say?

Tampa’s best player, Kevin Kiermaier, sits out again with an advanced allergic reaction to Vaseline a bone bruise in his foot. Sounds like someone is tired of all the cold weather!
