Most Essential White Sox Vote: Round 4

Who is the fourth-most essential White Sox player?

MLB: Spring Training-Texas Rangers at Chicago White Sox
Rookie Swing: Kopech takes the No. 3 spot, forecasting a runaway for White Sox prospects as essentials.
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Congratulations, Michael Kopech, you have been voted the third Most Essential White Sox player!

Kopech took an overwhelming 59% (107 of 182 ballots).

Earlier this season, Jiménez was voted as the second most important White Sox prospect, garnering a potent 75% of the second vote!

As there were questions during the first vote about criteria, I’ll leave the following in for one more ballot:

There were questions regarding criteria from the get-go during the Roster Ranking poll. The most important player for the future? For winning now? As a flippable player at the trade deadline?

I don’t know the answers to these questions. Just like when it comes to making trades, signing free agents, or drafting amateurs, there’s no set criteria. Logically, a team whose competitive window is “in the future” would probably not count a player on the downside of his career as terribly essential. But the criteria is yours and yours alone as a voter.

Especially given the fact that the White Sox are currently the worst team in baseball, I’m voting with an eye to the future. I am selecting the player who I feel will bring the most total value to the team in years to come.

Anyway, enough Facebooking the vote here. Vote your conscience, SSS brethren.

With the Roster Ranking I included a couple of stat lines, and with the Prospect Poll I included some stats and a bio. To begin with, given that the players on the ballot are the some of the most prominent prospects and roster members, I’m just going to put the ballot out there.

Going forward, if there’s valuable info (short bio, 2018 stats, link to a FanGraphs page) you’d like included to help you with your decision, let me know in the comments. Last call, fellas.

With Kopech advancing, Zack Burdi is added to the ballot.
