- James Shields gets the start for the White Sox tonight. Shields had one of his worst outings in his last start against the Minnesota Twins. He gave up seven runs on eight hits and two walks in his five innings pitched. Shields has shown that he could be a competent fifth starter on a contending team this season, so let’s hope he gets back on track tonight for some trade deadline value.
- Shields can eclipse 2,500 career innings with 6 1⁄3 tonight. Who knows — he might have a shot.
- Adam Plutko gets the start for the Indians. The Sox fared well against Plutko earlier this season, putting up five earned runs on the right-hander.
