Prior to the Southern League All-Star Game, C Zack Collins won the Home Run Derby.

Then, several Barons made a strong impression in the All-Star Game itself.

It was Zack Collins’ day. After winning the Home Run Derby, he had a hit, walked (of course), drove in a run and scored a run in the All-Star Game. Danny Mendick had a pair of hits, while Eloy Jimenez and Seby Zavala each had one hit. Dane Dunning pitched a perfect inning, striking out a pair. Ian Hamilton got the two outs in the two batters he faced. However, Jose Ruiz struggled, recording only one out while allowing two earned runs on three hits and walking one.

Luis Alexander Basabe: 0-for-2, 1 R, 1 SB

Matt Foster allowed one earned run on two hits in his inning of work.

The Intimidators were represented by Tate Blackman and Craig Dedelow in the South Atlantic League Home Run Derby prior to the All-Star Game:

As for the game itself:

South All-Stars 9, North All-Stars 5

Laz Rivera: 2-for-3, 2B, 1 R, 1 SB

Craig Dedelow only got one at-bat, but had a hit and scored a run while drawing a walk in his other at-bat. Jake Elliott pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Blake Battenfield struggled a bit in his inning of work, allowing one run on two hits.

A doubleheader is scheduled for Wednesday night.

After giving up a one-run lead in the top of the eighth inning and down a run, CF Luis Mieses hit a two-run homer in the bottom half of the inning -- his first of the season -- and the AZL White Sox took down the AZL Cubs on Tuesday night. 3B Micah Coffey continues his strong performance at the plate with a pair of hits including a double, two RBI and a run scored. Starting pitcher Brayan Herrera was solid for five innings, allowing just two earned runs while Hunter Kiel came in to earn the save.

L: Edgar Navarro (0-2, 6.23 ERA), 4 1/3 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

Down 3-1 in the ninth inning, the DSL White Sox plated one run and left the go-ahead run at first base as a rally fell short on Tuesday. The DSL White Sox out-hit the DSL Blue Jays 8-5, but all eight hits were singles -- with five of those scattered over the first eight innings. Combined with taking zero walks, runs were scarce in this one. Starting pitcher Edgar Navarro couldn’t get out of the fifth inning, allowing three runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings.
