Congratulations, Dylan Covey, you are the 32nd most essential White Sox player!
Covey last round became our first write-in candidate to make the ballot, and now has become the first to win. The young righty earned an impressive 53% (46 of 86 votes) on a crowded, 11-man ballot.
Repeating the two new wrinkles to voting:
- One is the write-in vote. Because the previous results (in the roster ranking and top prospects polls) feed this most essential poll, we tend to have a ballot that can be a bit stale. If there’s a player you feel has been overlooked so far in voting, write him in, in the comments below.
- The second wrinkle is a sort of relegation. From here on, any player getting zero votes in a poll will drop off the ballot for at least one round of voting before getting re-added.
After getting no votes this round, A.J. Puckett falls off of the ballot. With Covey advancing, James Shields is added to the ballot.
