I am a White Sox fan because my father was. He was a White Sox fan because they fielded good teams in the 1950s-60s when he was growing up in the Illinois cornfields as a baseball-playing, baseball-loving kid.
He could predict the next pitch as well as Steve Stone. He taught me how to keep score when I was six years old. I’d call him regularly just to talk Sox.
He would have been 67 years old today. I always do something Sox-related on his birthday, and today, this game thread is it. Thank you for indulging me.
Enjoy the Sox conversation tonight, fellow fans. What might tonight’s contest vs. the Texas Rangers have in store for us after the weirdness of the past two games? Your predictions, wishes, or outlandish guesses are welcome in the comments.
