Hey SSS, there’s a batch of Meet the Players due for release, and we’re going to lead off with Ali White (AliWhiteSox), tonight’s recapper and newest addition to the lineup.
Like many of us, Ali is a lifelong fan mustering the courage to stick with this rough cut of the future White Sox, and does so with plenty of feist @AliWhiteSox on Twitter. Her passion for the club is going to transition nicely to writing about it here with us.
When not donning gloves for an Opening Day adventure — it’s been four Opening Days and counting for this gal — Ali is a junior at Joliet Junior College, studying sports management and media/communications, and a four-year vet of Jewel-Osco, where she just might see some time at second base on the J-O softball team.
Meet the Players: Quick Hits
Hometown: Homer Glen
White Sox fan since: Birth
First White Sox memory: I was probably around seven years old, and I decided Joe Crede was my favorite player because he wore No. 24, and that was my favorite number at the time.
Favorite White Sox memory: When I was at the 19-inning game against Boston in July of 2006, right before the All-Star break. Tadahito Iguchi hit a bases-loaded single to beat the Red Sox, 6-5.
Favorite White Sox player: Mark Buehrle. Also, Joe Crede will always have a special place in my heart.
Next White Sox statue: Probably Hawk Harrelson
Next White Sox retired number: Eloy Jiménez
Go-to concession food at Sox Park: Hot dog
Favorite Baseball Movie, and why: Sandlot, because it’s a classic, and was relatable at a young age.
South Side Sox on the field: Second base
True or false: Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn’t thinking isn’t thinking of. True
