Tampa Bay Rays OF Austin Meadows hit three home runs in this one -- two off starter Jordan Stephens and one off Carson Fulmer -- leading Durham past the Knights in a big way on Wednesday. OF Ryan Cordell hit his third home run, a solo blast in the third inning. Eddy Alvarez and Bryant Flete each had two hits and a double with Flete driving in a run and Alvarez scoring a run. Stephens struggled, allowing six runs without getting out of the fifth inning and Fulmer didn’t do much better allowing two runs in his relief stint.

Salem Red Sox 10, Winston-Salem Dash 3
Nick Madrigal (.276): 1-for-5, 0 BB, 0 K
Ti’Quan Forbes (.274): 1-for-3, 1 BB
JJ Muno (.281): 1-for-2, 2B, 1 R
Daniel Gonzalez (.255): 3-for-4, 2 RBI ***MVP***
Zach Remillard (.252): 2-for-4, 2B, 1 RBI
L: John Parke (5-4, 4.16 ERA), 6 IP, 11 H, 7 R (4 ER), 1 BB, 2 K
JJ Muno (13.50 ERA): 1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 1 BB 1 K
It’s never a good ballgame for your squad when a position player has to pitch because the game is out of hand, but JJ Muno had to do that again in this one. It’s also never good when your team commits as many errors as they score runs if that number is more than one -- in this case, it was three. Poor pitching and troubling defense doomed the Dash as they got buried in a 7-2 hole through three innings and could never make it close. C Daniel Gonzalez led the offensive charge with three of the Dash’s nine hits and he drove in two runs. Zach Remillard had a pair of hits including a double and one RBI. Starting pitcher John Parke struggled, allowing seven runs (four earned) on 11 hits in six innings.
Also, there was this insane defensive gem by Madrigal:

Asheville Tourists 6, Kannapolis Intimidators 3
Craig Dedelow (.250): 1-for-5, HR (12), 1 RBI ***CO-MVP***
Tate Blackman (.244): 1-for-5, HR (16), 1 RBI ***CO-MVP***
Michael Hickman (.217): 2-for-5, 2 2B, 1 R
Justin Yurchak (.256): 3-for-3, 1 BB
L: Parker Rigler (6-9, 4.39 ERA), 6 IP, 7 H, 5 R (4 ER), 2 BB, 2 K
Craig Dedelow and Tate Blackman each hit solo home runs, Michael Hickman doubled twice and Justin Yurchak had a three-hit game but none of it was enough as the I’s fell to Asheville on Wednesday. Despite the offensive fireworks, starting pitcher Parker Rigler struggled in allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits over six innings to take his ninth loss of the season.

Helena Brewers 6, Great Falls Voyagers 2
Romy Gonzalez (.259): 1-for-4, 2B
Amado Nunez (.346): 2-for-3, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 BB ***MVP***
Ryan Fitzpatrick (.238): 2-for-4, 1 RBI

L: Davis Martin (0-2, 4.80 ERA), 3 IP, 6 H, 4 R (3 ER), 0 BB, 3 K
Amado Nunez continues to rake, but his two hits including a double, one RBI, one run and a walk weren’t enough as the Voyagers fell to Helena. The Brewers plated four runs in the third inning against relief pitcher Davis Martin and never looked back. Starting pitcher Konnor Pilkington only lasted two innings before departing, giving up one run on two hits. Ryan Fitzpatrick also had a pair of hits and one RBI.
