Dylan Covey takes the mound tonight in what was supposed to be Michael Kopech’s spot. *Sigh*
The White Sox have not won a game since the news of Kopech needing Tommy John surgery. Tonight they will look to bounce back from last night’s walk-off mishap.
Dylan Covey has a 8.37 ERA over his last five starts (yikes). While Covey has been coming out of the bullpen for his last six appearances, he sits at a 2.25 ERA over 12 IP. I am hoping we see the Dylan Covey who dominated the Boston Red Sox back in June.
It’s Brad Keller on the bump for the Royals tonight. Keller sits at 3.14 ERA, with an ERA of 2.64 for his last seven starts. Hopefully the White Sox can get to the rookie tonight in search of their first win in the past six games.
And in back-end relief news, Nate Jones has been activated from the disabled list, and hopefully he can string together some late-season successes that can carry over into next year.
Starting lineups:
Daniel Palka ranks among the American League rookie leaders in home runs (3rd, 22), RBI (3rd, 57), extra-base hits (T3rd, 39), total bases (5th, 172) and runs scored (5th, 48).
