White Sox Minor League Update: September 4, 2018

Great Falls goes down in Tuesday’s only on-field action; White Sox promote another prospect (not Eloy Jiménez, of course)

Money Moniot: Travis connected on his first home run of the season, a two-run blast, but it wasn’t enough for the Voyagers.
Tianna Stevens

Leading off: Knights OF Eloy Jimenez was named White Sox Minor League Player of the Month and Barons RHP Dylan Cease was named White Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Month for August/September ...

Another addition to the White Sox MLB roster (nope, still not Eloy Jimenez):

Plus, a preview of Kannapolis’ first-round playoff matchup:

Billings Mustangs 6, Great Falls Voyagers 4

Logan Sowers (.294): 0-for-2, 1 R, 2 BB

Bryce Bush (.270): 1-for-4, 1 R

Amado Nunez (.354): 2-for-4, 2 RBI

Alex Destino (.254): 1-for-3, 1 BB

Micah Coffey (.256): 1-for-4, 1 R

Travis Moniot (.279): 1-for-4, HR (1), 2 RBI ***MVP***

L: Jason Bilous (0-4, 7.85 ERA), 2 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

Billings scored five runs in the second inning — all off of starting pitcher Jason Bilous — and never looked back as the Voyagers went down on Tuesday night. The club tried to make it a game, though. Trailing 6-0 in the fourth inning, Amado Nunez drove in a pair of runs with a single. Then, in the seventh inning, Travis Moniot belted a two-run homer, his first of the season, to bring the Voyagers within two. That was as close as they would get, however. After Bilous’ struggles on the mound, Voyagers pitchers didn’t allow an earned run over the final six frames, with reliever Johan Dominguez striking out three in a perfect inning of work. Nick Johnson also pitched a scoreless inning in relief and now has a 0.90 ERA this season.
