Six Pack of Stats: Tigers 10, White Sox 2

A scathing summary of Chicago’s sad series finale vs. Detroit

Flatlined: Somewhere in that flaccid stretch after the fourth inning, Jason Benetti and Steve Stone began debating the merits of a song called “Dead Skunk.”

The Chicago White Sox went 1-8 (.111) this season at Sox Park vs. the Detroit Tigers, and 7-12 overall.

Before this series, Detroit was 6-19 (.240) in its last 25 road games. They came to Chicago and took two of three.

Yoán Moncada ended the second inning by grounding into a 5-4-3 double play. In 104 13 innings in 2018 to that point, Detroit starter had thrown just two double plays.

Over the course of just nine Michael Kopech pitches in the fourth inning, the Tigers hit three home runs. And a single.

After it appeared rain might miss Sox Park entirely on Wednesday night, two hard rains fell during the game, necessitating two delays of 61 total minutes.

The first two home runs Kopech surrendered, to Jeimer Candelario leading off the game and Mikie Mahtook leading off the fourth, totaled 878 feet.
