Glendale Desert Dogs 8, Surprise Saguaros 4
Vince Arobio (rp, 6th) IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, K, 25 pitches/10 strikes (8.31 ERA)
It was a terrific 2019 regular season that got Arobio both aggressive call-ups and, ultimately it seems, this fall call to the AFL. But it has been a true struggle for the righthander in Glendale. Yet again, the reliever coughed up runs, as it seems he’s done in every appearance this fall. Presumably at this point, Arobio is sitting far enough toward the end of the bullpen bench that he only gets the call in games where, say, his team has jumped out to a 6-0 lead, as it did tonight.
Arobio gave up a single and a walk to the first two batters he faced, then pushing the lead runner to second with a wild pitch. After a K, it was one more walk, packing the sacks and setting up a two-run double from Brandon Wagner. However, Arobio did put out his own fire, turning a ducks-ponded crisis into no futher damage, after a pop out and line out.
That’s it for White Sox tonight. Glendale is HOT, pushing its record to 9-13 with tonight’s win. And the Desert Dogs are getting so froggy they’re doing things like trying to steal home, as Milwaukee Brewers outfield prospect Pablo Abreu did tonight. As in, he tried — and failed — to steal home.
The hot Dogs get cooled by an off-day tomorrow before shooting for a 10th win up north in Surprise on Friday night.
