Bennett Sousa (rp, 6th and 7th) 2 IP, H, 3 K, HOLD (1), 27 pitches/17 strikes (6.23 ERA)
Blake Rutherford (cf) 1-for-4, HR (2), 2 R, RBI (6), BB, K (.190 BA, .721 OPS)
Micker Adolfo (rf) 1-for-5, RBI (5), 3 K (.174 BA, .639 OPS)
Gavin Sheets (ph-DH) 1-for-2, R (.220 BA, .569 OPS)
WOW. A Desert Dogs win (rare this fall) with contributions from four White Sox (unprecedented)!
Sousa was the star here, and it merits repeating that but for one really bad outing, he’s been lights-out for the Desert Dogs. Arguably, this was his best outing of the fall.
Rutherford continued a pretty decent power showing in Arizona, at least for a guy hitting .190. He has two homers, along with three triples.
Micker and Gavin, who have often been the comedy team pairing up for like five of 10 Glendale Ks on a given night, kept it mostly above board tonight (although it was another three whiffs for Adolfo, who has had a terrible contact problem with the Desert Dogs and the AZL White Sox alike).
It’s a very quick turnaround for this home-and-home series, as Scottsdale comes over to Camelback Ranch tomorrow afternoon to finish it off.
