Can’t finish .500? Glendale don’t care!

Another win surges the D-Dogs to 13-15

Walkin’: Sheets took another two free passes in Glendale’s win on Thursday.

Glendale Desert Dogs 2, Peoria Javelinas 1

Bennett Sousa (rp, 5th) IP, K, 14 pitches/8 strikes (5.59 ERA)
Gavin Sheets (1b) 1-for-2, R, 2 BB (.246 BA, .644 OPS)
Blake Rutherford (dh) 0-for-3, BB, K (.187 BA, .691 OPS)
Tyler Johnson (rp, 7th) IP, H, ER, 2 BB, 2 K, HOLD (4), 26 pitches/12 strikes (3.12 ERA)
Micker Adolfo (rf) 0-for-4 (.167 BA, .651 OPS)

Sheets scored the eventual winning run to cap a two-run seventh, and that’s almost all you need to know. He and Sousa both had standout games, which is nice.

Let’s take a second to note that when it all boils down, Sousa may end up with a better campaign than even Fall Star Johnson; the southpaw has been terrific in every outing but one. ERA don’t lie (sorta), but if you throw the worst outing off the stat sheet, I’m confident Sousa would hold his own. #NameToWatchFor2020

Sheets aside, it was another poor day for White Sox hitters. Rutherford and Adolfo combined for an 0-for-7 day, and in a small blessing, only one of the outs was a K (and none from Micker!).

The Desert Dogs season ends tomorrow afternoon, as Glendale heads up to Surprise to wind AFL 2020 up.
