Glendale finishes things up right

A 5-3 win, with more good performances than bad

Finishing strong: Arobio had perhaps his best outing of the fall in Friday’s finale.

Glendale Desert Dogs 5, Surprise Saguaros 3

Vince Arobio (rp, 4th) IP, H, K, WP, 14 pitches/9 strikes (6.75 ERA)
Gavin Sheets (1b) 1-for-3, RBI (8) (.250 BA, .640 OPS)
Blake Rutherford (rf) 0-for-3, K (.179 BA, .666 OPS)

The Desert Dogs were out of the playoff race almost from the get-go, but a really strong post-Fall Stars Game stretch got them within one game of .500 to end things (14-15).

Arobio had a strong outing to finish things up in this truncated, seven-inning affair. He never got into a groove this AFL season, but his last couple of outings were his best.

Sheets also woke up a bit and finished fairly strong. A .250 average on this Desert Dogs team probably puts him among the leaders.

Rutherford sort of wheezed to the finish, but did flash some slugging ability to hearten those who feel he lacks pop.
