Three years in, we finally have our act together enough to kick off our prospect vote so the end doesn’t run into the regular season.

You’ll recall an odd Russian-bot sacking of our vote at some point last year around pick No. 10 or so, and we reduced the number of names on the ballot from 25 to five. Fingers crossed, we’ll put 10 players on the ballot for each round this year. There are some cursory stats attached to help you out in your decision-making, but all the great bio writing from WSM you’re used to seeing here is over at South Side Hit Pen, as we count down the Top 100 White Sox Prospects over there.

On Thursday, SSHP starts the countdown, with José Nin as the No. 100 prospect. By starting both series at the same time, by the time the SSHP Top 100 has counted from 100 to 50, this SSS poll vote will have counted down from 1 to 50. We’ll meet in the middle, with the SSS poll vote factoring in the order of our final 50 prospects.

To no one’s surprise — well, technically, 14% of voters’ surprise, just like last year’s top vote, with Eloy Jiménez — Luis Robert was named the White Sox’s Top Prospect by SSS readers. Robert earned 86% (508 of 588 votes).

Voting increased in the first round this season by a whopping 240 votes.

In 2018, Jiménez was also named our top prospect, with 70% of the vote.

Last year Robert was named the White Sox’s No. 4 prospect by SSS readers, down from his No. 3 position in 2018.
