I'm not one to usually say that a couple of unfortunate events completely changed the outcome of a game, but with both Tim Anderson and Yoan Moncada exiting early against the Kansas City Royals, I knew the offense would have a hard time securing the victory. Had both players remained in the game, I feel the Sox would have easily won the game for their fourth in a row, and completed the series sweep.
Alas, the South Siders dropped the series finale against the Royals, and will look to start their four-game series in Detroit off with a win today. (Without Joe West around to make things more difficult.)
Ivan Nova is up for the Sox, and he will attempt to pick up where he left off from his last appearance. Last Saturday against the Yankees, the right-hander threw six innings of one- run baseball, off of only four hits and five K's.
Starting for the Tigers today is RHP Tyson Ross. Ross has been extremely effective vs. the White Sox throughout his career, and is unbeaten in four starts against the South Siders. Sporting a 1-2 record with a 3.50 ERA this season, the righthander is coming off of a loss against Minnesota. In his last start, Ross allowed four runs on five hits through 6.0 innings of work.
