Another massive home run to right field is his second of the day and third of the season to make it 13-3 Knights in the 8th! @Nicky_Delmonico is now 3-for-4 with 2 HR and 5 RBI today. #704Knights pic.twitter.com/XIevy4rycr
The Knights were unstoppable this afternoon against the Tides, with starter Jordan Guerrero keeping steady on the mound and the Knights batters hitting up a storm.
To start the top of the first Charlie Tilson singled, Alcides Escobar doubled and Zack Collins had a sac fly to send Tilson home. The Tides scored two runs off of four singles in the bottom of the second, but Guerrero ended that rally fast with two Ks and a fly out.
The big damage was done in the third, when Charlotte scored six runs thanks to a two-run double by Escobar, a sac fly from Nicky Delmonico, a two-run double by Seby Zavala and a fielding error from Tides shortstop Jack Reinheimer. And the Knights chased that with a run in the fourth due to a Delmonico line drive RBI single to score Tilson.
The Tides changed pitchers again in the sixth, but the Knights bats were on fire against Tanner Chleborad right when he threw his first pitch. Collins had a two-run double and Nicky Delmonico homered on a fly ball to right field, putting four more runs on the board for Charlotte.
Pitcher Juan Minaya replaced Guerrero late in the bottom of the sixth and notched a 1-2-3 inning. Delmonico homered once again to right field in the top of the eighth, and Ryan Goins hit a line-drive RBI double. Evan Marshall came on to end it in the ninth with a strikeout and a double play. You know it was a killer offensive attack when Escobar had a five-hit day and couldn’t earn the game MVP!

The Barons had themselves a day at home, crushing the Generals with smart pitching and strong bats! Jimmy Lambert had the start for Birmingham, allowing eight hits and three earned runs (one of which was a home run), along with nine strikeouts. Don’t mess with Lambert when he gets heated.
Gavin Sheets had a two-run bomb to right-center field sending, Laz Rivera home in the top of the first. Turns out, Sheets’s home run was just an early spark for the Barons. Blake Rutherford scored in the second on a force out to make it 3-0 going into the third.
Lambert allowed the solo homer and sac fly to center field that tightened the game at 3-2, but that was as close as the Generals would charge. The Barons came pumped in the bottom of the frame, scoring three runs off of three RBI singles from Sheets, Micker Adolfo, and Rutherford.
Zach Thompson replaced Lambert in the sixth, when the Generals scored off of a Thompson wild pitch. But Birmingham would score four more runs in the bottom of the sixth with a Rivera two-run single and a Gonzalez two-run double to left field. After Connor Walsh came in to take over for Thompson in the eighth, he allowed a run to score on a sac fly. But the Generals would be shut down by Tanner Banks in the ninth, ending a beautiful day for baseball for the Birmingham Barons!
This guy struck out 9⃣ in 5.2 innings today.

After splitting a doubleheader on Saturday, Winston-Salem couldn’t come through fto finish the series against Potomac. Starter John Parke (who had pitched very well his last three outings) was unable to hold off the Nationals bats today, allowing nine hits, six earned runs, and a walk. He did collect four strikeouts.
Tyler Frost singled on a ground ball to left field to start the top of the first and Nick Madrigal got hit by a pitch, but no runs came about for the Dash that inning. Potomac scored their first two runs in the bottom of the third off of an RBI triple and a line drive RBI single to left fielder Craig Dedelow. More runs came in for the Nationals in the fifth with an RBI Single, a two-run single, and an RBI double. Jake Elliot came to replace Parke in the fifth with two outs, ending the inning with a fly out to center field.
Winston-Salem was not getting action at the plate until the top of the sixth, when Madrigal hit an RBI single to the third baseman to score Yeyson Yrizarri, but that was the only run the Dash put on the board. Potomac got one more run in the bottom of the sixth against Elliot, an RBI single to center.
Will Kincanon replaced Elliot in the seventh and had a stellar outing for Winston Salem. He went two perfect innings, allowing no runs, one walk, and had two strikeouts! He truly brought the “Cannon” this afternoon.
Even though the Dash had great relief pitching, it doesn’t help when you can’t get anything done at the plate. Not a great day for Winston-Salem, but manager Justin Jirschele and this talented young team will be back at it tomorrow night, starting their series against the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
Despite solid work from the bullpen, including two scoreless innings from @The_Cannon27, the Dash fall 7-1 against the Nationals on Sunday. pic.twitter.com/4DOUcY1CBX
