Ervin Santana aims for the first strong start of his South Side career

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox
Point of no return: Tough to feel too good about a series win, even in Baltimore, when you’re chasing an Iván Nova start with an Ervin Santana one.
Matt Marton-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight in Baltimore, the White Sox look to take the series against the Baltimore Orioles before heading back home to Chicago.

It’s veteran Ervin Santana on the mound tonight for the White Sox. Santana’s ERA sits at a hefty 10.38, as his last two starts haven't been so hot. We can only hope he can turn things around and keep the Sox in the game. (The last two games I’ve covered the Sox have won, so hopefully my luck will continue.) [Ed. note: Sox win tonight, and Ali is going to have recap duty for the rest of the season.]

For the Orioles tonight it’s John Means, who made his MLB debut at the end of last season in September. Means’s ERA sits at a low 1.72 in two starts this year. He seems to be a swingman, because his last outing came out of the bullpen.

Starting lineups:

No Nicky Delmonico tonight, and his time is most likely up as Eloy Jiménez should be joining the team again in Chicago after taking bereavement leave for the passing of his grandmother. Also, even on this White Sox team, James McCann batting cleanup is rather questionable.

Lineup for the O’s:

Game time is at 6:05 pm CST, televised on NBCS Chicago. Tune in on the radio at WGN 720.
