What was looking like another offensive dud during the Barons’ odd start to the year quickly became a competitive game. Sean Nolin got the start for for Birmingham, his AA debut, and proceeded to watch two batters score in his first inning. One was on him (a solo home run allowed) the other was because of an error by Laz Rivera. By the third inning, the Shuckers added another run, putting the Barons in a 3-0 hole.
After four scoreless innings, Birmingham finally broke through in the fifth, and in a big way. The bases were loaded with two outs by the time Micker Adolfo came to the plate. Adolfo delivered the big hit Birmingham needed, with a bases-clearing double. The tie at three stayed until the ninth inning as Luis Martinez came in for Nolin. He had some trouble in his two innings, as four batters reached base, but Martinez escaped without allowing a run. In the ninth Luis Gonzalez singled, and it scored two runners for a 5-3 lead.
Mauricio Cabrera pitching in the eighth, so after the Barons took the lead and he closed down Biloxi to earn the win in the 5-3 victory.

Luis Robert has homered again.
His solo shot puts us ahead 2-0 in the third at Wilmington. pic.twitter.com/kFYfbjJMQn
The only North Carolina MiLB team to play today was Winston-Salem, and Luis Robert led off the game with a double. After Robert advanced to third base, Nick Madrigal was able to drive him in with a sac fly. Kyle Kubat got the start and he cruised through his first two innings with a 1-0 lead, until Robert was up again. Apparently, Robert was not satisfied with only a double, because he jacked his fourth homer of the year to make the game 2-0. However, Kubat’s shutout would end in the fourth, after a run-scoring double by the Blue Rocks.
The Dash would expand the lead to 3-1 thanks to a Robert fielder’s choice, but that lead was the high point. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Kubat lost all luck. He allowed two more runs without inducing an out in the sixth inning. Wyatt Burns replaced Kubat, and he allowed an unearned run across that gave the Blue Rocks the 4-3 lead. The Blue Rocks would go on to win the game after adding one more run.
