The Barons were holding it down with a 4-0 lead going into the top of the sixth, then it all fell apart from there.
Birmingham got on the board first, in the second, with a Blake Rutherford RBI double. Then, Luis Robert kept it going with an RBI double of his own in the third, and doubled down with a two-run double in the fourth inning! He is dangerous. Robert would end up with three Doubles for the day.
Starter Felix Paulino was doing just fine until the sixth, when he allowed a two-run homer. Paulino’s day was done early in the seventh, after allowing an RBI triple and single. The Barons were unable to come back. Hard loss for Birmingham. Tomorrow, the boys start a 10-game road trip against the Jackson Generals and the Tennessee Smokies.

Kannapolis Intimidators vs Hickory Crawdads: Postponed
I drove the 40 minutes to Intimidators Stadium to cheer on the K-Town Boys. It only rained a little this afternoon, followed by sunshine. The heat was drying up the grounds, but I guess the field was still trying to recover from last night’s hailstorm and downpour. There will be a doubleheader tomorrow night at 6 p.m. I will be attending and snapping some picture,s and hopefully enjoying a baseball-filled night out to make up for today.
WEATHER UPDATE: Today’s game has been postponed due to wet and unplayable field conditions. We will play a double header tomorrow starting at 6pm.
