I have no idea who sponsors this series, but I always enjoy the rather meaningless bragging rights on the line. Can we please go back to three-game, weekend summer series for these two teams to play each other? Seriously, it’s a Tuesday night.
Anyway, Ivan Nova gets the start for the White Sox tonight. He was good enough in his last outing, going 5 2⁄3 and giving up four earned runs against the New York Yankees.
Cole Hamels gets the start for the Cubs. The Sox pounded the then-Texas Ranger Hamels for seven earned runs on July 1 of last year. Hamels comes into tonight with a respectable 2.98 ERA and 1.18 WHIP.
