The White Sox look to avoid back-to-back sweeps

MLB: JUL 17 White Sox at Royals
Brand new day: The great thing about baseball is that there is almost always another game to play tomorrow; let’s get it.

In an already losing roadtrip, it’s never too late to turn the ship around and end on a positive note. This afternoon marks the fourth and final game in the Kansas City Royals series before the Chicago White Sox board their charter for the last leg of this ten-game roadtrip for a three-game set against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The start of a four-game winning streak to end the transcontinental roadtrip starts today for the South Siders.

Ross Detwiler will take the hill. Detwiler is 1-0 in three games (two starts) for the Sox. He holds a 5.02 ERA and a 1.67 WHIP. Detwiler must be ready to pitch well in hopes to salvage yet another sweep.

His mound opponent will be the infamous Brad Keller. Keller owns a 5-9 record alongside a 4.25 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. In the name of Tim Anderson, it’s the perfect day to have an offensive outburst for the Good Guys.

However, the lineup is a bit funky for Chicago:

A.J. Reed bats cleanup and will take the field at first base. Welington Castillo is back in the catching position and will bat fifth.

As for the Royals, they will line up as follows:

Luckily for the Sox, Alex Gordon isn’t in the lineup, but the notorious Sox-killer Whit Merrifield leads off the game and will be in left field.

It’s a 12:15 CT start, and NBC Sports Chicago has the broadcast while WGN-AM has the radio coverage. Additionally, MLB Network will also broadcast the game! I’m ready for the South Siders to turn it around, so let’s see if they can make that happen!
