After last night’s tough loss, the Chicago White Sox look to split the series, with Iván Nova taking the bump. Today feels like it would be a good day for Nova to go seven innings holding the Cubs scoreless.
Here’s the good news: Nova, in nine career starts against that other team, sports a 3.75 ERA with a 4-2 record. The bad? His ERA for this year is 5.92, and he's struggled more at home than on the road.
Kyle Hendricks is on the bump for the North Siders today. He has had one start since returning from the IL, and that came in a rain-shortened game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Hendricks went three innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits while striking out four and walking one. Overall for the year, the low-velo hurler has an ERA at 3.45.
Lineups for today:
Zack Collins is in to get some at-bats as the DH.
Kris Bryant returns to third base tonight, Willson Contreras will be the DH, and Victor Caratini squats behind the plate.
The White Sox broadcast will be on WGN. Tune in to WGN-AM for the radio.
Also, check out tonight’s Futures Game lineup. Nick Madrigal and Luis Robert are batting second and third. And for bonus White Sox content, Jim Thome is managing the American League team.
