After last night’s tough loss, the Chicago White Sox look to split the series, with Iván Nova taking the bump. Today feels like it would be a good day for Nova to go seven innings holding the Cubs scoreless.
Here’s the good news: Nova, in nine career starts against that other team, sports a 3.75 ERA with a 4-2 record. The bad? His ERA for this year is 5.92, and he's struggled more at home than on the road.
Kyle Hendricks is on the bump for the North Siders today. He has had one start since returning from the IL, and that came in a rain-shortened game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Hendricks went three innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits while striking out four and walking one. Overall for the year, the low-velo hurler has an ERA at 3.45.
