White Sox fans feeling Rickrolled

As confidence in the organization steadies, Renteria is floundering

Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send 30 polls to plugged-in fans from each team. Chicago White Sox fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.

What a difference a week makes.

In our recent survey of White Sox fan confidence, the ballclub hit a season-low 43% backing. With a few wins under the belt and September starting to look a bit kinder for the club, spirits have risen, to a 59% thumbs-up.

On the other hand, Ricky Renteria has not seen his fortunes rise along with the ballclub’s. After a season-low tumble a week ago, Renteria sees fan opinion of him rise just 1%, to 31%. That is ominous, even for a guy who seemingly secured a perpetual extension this past offseason.

The national poll questions this week took a look at two hard-fought division battles, in both Central Divisions. Fans felt, somewhat overwhelmingly, that the current leaders, the Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals, would emerge on top. And you can sting me for anti-Cubs bias, a bias I will fully cop to, but what gives on completely ignoring the Milwaukee Brewers in the equation? They’ve got an easier schedule than either team in front of them and played CLUTCH down the stretch in 2018 ... I like them for first or second place in the division.
