Oh, Ricky

As confidence in the White Sox takes another hit, support of Renteria hits a season-low

Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send 30 polls to plugged-in fans from each team. Chicago White Sox fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.

Oh, boy. After a nice little bump last week, the White Sox are barely holding on to half-and-half support among fans. This September has been filled with some exciting individual stat races to follow (thank you, Tim Anderson and José Abreu ... and, cough, Daniel Palka!) but otherwise have been a little tough to watch. That’s reflected in the temperature of fan support.

Meanwhile, as the White Sox are getting lukewarm backing, manager Ricky Renteria is officially on the hot seat with fans. For all the struggles of the season, September has been acutely unkind — three straight weeks of 30%-ish support, culminating this week in a season-low 29% mark. The Chisox jefe ought to be very thankful that Rick Hahn, and not fans. are in charge of his paycheck.

A real interesting national poll question this week, asking fans to rate who will have the biggest letdown in the postseason, among the first four division winners. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Astros got just a sniff of national worry, while the cruising Yankees and Dodgers both were subject of much hand-wringing. As usual, the Yankees won this poll — and for us Yankee haters, it’s nice to see them win a “bad” contest for a change.

Where are you on these questions? If you didn’t participate in the FanPulse survey this week, hey man, get with the program, and sign up above or HERE.

All the cool kids are doing it.
