Mexicali Blues

Hey, the Desert Dogs steal a win!

Glendale Desert Dogs 7, Águilas de Mexicali 2

Blake Rutherford (LF) 1-for-4, R, BB, 3B (1), GIDP (.158 BA, .554 OPS)
Gavin Sheets (1B) 2-for-4, 2 R, RBI (1), BB, K, GIDP (.133 BA, .321 OPS)
Micker Adolfo (RF) 0-for-2, R, 2 BB, K (.125 BA, .864 OPS)
Bennett Sousa (RP, 9th) IP, H, 3 K, 15 pitches/13 strikes (0.00 ERA)

Not a bad little game at all for our friends on the Desert Dogs, whupping up on the Mexican Pacific League Eagles in a sanctioned bout on Tuesday.

B-Ruth got himself a triple, batting in the No. 2 slot tonight. Sheets manned cleanup and went from a zero to a hero, with two hits climbing his batting average to .133. Micker had a fairly uneventful night at the plate, but handled a single and two putouts flawlessly in right field. And Sousa, whoa Sousa, struck out the side in the ninth, throwing just two balls off of the plate in his frame.

And Mexicali’s bats went all “White Sox” in the latter third of the game, whiffing for eight of the final nine outs and on all six of its final batters.

Glendale plays Salt River tomorrow, but tees it up against the Águilas again on Thursday.
