Flores fires Glendale to win

The Chisox sticks are still struggling, though

Getting better: Flores threw a flawless start on Thursday, setting himself up for a strong AFL stretch.

Glendale Desert Dogs 5, Salt River Rafters 4

Bernardo Flores (SP) 3 ⅔ IP, 4 H, K, W (1-1), pickoff at first, 55 pitches/36 strikes (8.31 ERA)
Gavin Sheets (1B) 1-for-4, 2B (1), R, 2 RBI (3), K (.158 BA, .411 OPS)
Micker Adolfo (RF) 0-for-3, HBP, 2 K, E (1, fielding), picked off of first by the catcher (.091 BA, .697 OPS)

Weird night in Arizona; all other games were canceled, but not at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. No matter, the DDs jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two and held on.

Bernardo Flores was pretty fab, making up for a pretty awful first start. Gavin Sheets was ... OK.

Micker Adolfo, though, yeesh. not a great one for him. A bad night at the plate. A HBP (gasp don’t break Micker!). Then a catcher pickoff at first base. And finally, a fielding error in right, Adolfo’s first of the AFL. All in all, one to wash away with a delicious postgame soda pop, Micker.

Don’t look now, Glendale is 3-4 and merely tied for last place in the AFL West.
