Peoria Javelinas 5, Glendale Desert Dogs 2

Blake Rutherford (CF): 1-for-3, 3B, K (.182 BA, .659 OPS)
Gavin Sheets (1B): 1-for-3 (.174 BA, .425 OPS)
Vince Arobio (RP, 4th and 5th): 1 ⅓ IP, H, K, 15 pitches/nine strikes (8.31 ERA)
Tyler Johnson (RP, 7th): IP, eight pitches/seven strikes (0.00 ERA)

While it was a tough night for the Desert Dogs, who dropped their fifth game of eight this season, it was a pretty sweet night for the White Sox faction.

In the fifth inning, Blake Rutherford tripled and later scored on a ground out, creeping the Desert Dogs to within 5-2. Gavin Sheets singled in three at-bats, so he’s slowly moving toward the Mendoza Line.

The Chisox pitchers did even better, as Vince Arobio had his first strong performance of the fall: Just 15 pitches to carve four outs, giving up a single hit in the process. And you can’t fault Tyler Johnson’s AFL start, as he needed just eight pitches to coax three ground outs.

It’s a home-and-home for Glendale and Peoria, so the Desert Dogs visit the Javelinas a few minutes up the interstate tomorrow night.
