Peoria Javelinas 9, Glendale Desert Dogs 4
Micker Adolfo (RF) 2-for-4, RBI, K (.200 BA, .768 OPS)
Bennett Sousa (RP, 8th) ⅔ IP, 4 H, 3 ER, BB, 32 pitches/22 strikes (7.36 ERA)
Let’s get this one over quick, because it’s one thing to see another Glendale loss in the AFL, it’s worse when one of the White Sox players had a big hand in it.
Sousa’s meltdown in the eighth certainly didn’t play a role in the loss, as the Javelinas were already up in the game and the Desert Dogs offense was providing its usual lukewarm effort. But for one outing to swell an ERA from zilch to 7.36, ugh. But this one is the definition of a game to throw away, and let’s hope Sousa gets right back out there in the next game or two in order to wipe this one clean.
In Micker Adolfo news, well, he had his first two-hit game of the AFL, including a two-out RBI single. To boot, another uneventful outing in right field, where it seems Adolfo is going to be tested for the entire AFL season.
