Desert Dogs drop another, 4-3

Rutherford provides a big defensive highlight in the loss

Zoom-a-zoom-zoom: OK, so you sort of have to use your imagination here, but this was a PHENOMENAL catch by Blake Rutherford.

Salt River Rafters 4, Glendale Desert Dogs 3

Blake Rutherford (CF) 0-for-2, BB (.167 BA, .634 OPS)
Micker Adolfo (DH) 0-for-4, 3 K (.158 BA, .620 OPS)
Tyler Johnson (RP, 6th) IP, H, 13 pitches/eight strikes (0.00 ERA)

Another flat game for the Desert Dogs, who drop to 3-7. Just a day after it was proclaimed that Adolfo would see right field reps up the wazoo, what ho, he gets a start at DH and strikes out three times. Rutherford had this beauty play in the sixth:

As you can see, after this phenomenal diving catch, Rutherford is getting up slowly. Combined with the fact that he was removed from the game in the ninth, it’s a little worrying that Rutherford might be bruised up. Hopefully, nothing too serious.

And another positive, Tyler Johnson maintained his perfect ERA on the AFL season with a ground out-single-line out (the Rutherford play above)-pop out sequence. Keep it up, Ty!
