Gulp.
This week’s deep cut takes a look again at the confidence Chicago White Sox fans have in the direction of the team. Well, the news is not good; perhaps fueled by losses in 10 of the last 13 games, confidence in the White Sox is at a season-long low. The previous low of 50% came in Weeks 2 and 21, and this new mark pretty well blows past that.

Seven team fanbases offer less of a vote of confidence than that on the South Side.
Interestingly, the Detroit Tigers, with 100 losses already on the season, earn just a slightly smaller fan backing than the White Sox, at 34%:

Perhaps not coincidentally, fan base confidence in manager Ricky Renteria hit an all-time low as well, continuing what is now a five-week trend. Renteria’s previous low was set at 36% in Week 20, although it’s been lingering in the 30s for a month-plus now.

Fanbases from only two team offer a lower manager approval right now: the Pittsburgh Pirates (25%) and New York Mets (14%).
The national poll question this week addressed bench-clearing brawls, and fans nationwide seemed to endorse meatheadery of some sort, at certain times. The question might have been better phrased to specify whether the “brawl” involves the typical exchange of tee times and relievers sprinting in from the bullpens to tear some buttons off of shirts, or real and actual fighting.
