Three years in, we finally have our act together enough to kick off our prospect vote so the end doesn’t run into the regular season.
Here’s how 2018 wrangled out — all 42 picks. Also, here’s an archive of every article in the 2018 series. Here’s how 2019 came together, all 50 picks, and the archive as well.
There are some cursory stats attached to help you out in your decision-making, but all the great bio writing from WSM you’re used to seeing here is over at South Side Hit Pen, as we count down the Top 100 White Sox Prospects over there.
By starting our vote here and the Top 100 countdown at SSHP at the same time, by the time the SSHP Top 100 has counted from 100 to 50, this SSS poll vote will have counted down from 1 to 50. We’ll meet in the middle, with the SSS poll vote factoring in the order of our final 50 prospects.
Sound cool? Now, get voting!
After a re-vote after Andrew Perez stormed Round 23 with a massive 58% win, Perez prevailed with an even 50%. In the comments of one of the two polls, Brett mentioned that from here, any one prospect (given the modest differences among all at this point) getting more than 50% of the vote from here on will trigger either a re-vote or awarding the win to the second-place finisher.
Obviously, these polls walk the line between popularity contest and strict science. I don’t think any of us agree with the overall results so far, often lobbying for “their guys” in comments. That’s the nature of this stuff. Most of all, we’re here to have fun, and there’s no reason that shouldn’t continue.
So Perez prevailed, with 50% (194 of 385 votes), making it three straight first-timers on the ballot winning, after Jake Burger and Zack Burdi. Perez took the 53rd spot on our Top 100 last year, winning the No. 46 spot in our site vote.
Last year’s No. 23 prospect was Kodi Medeiros.
