Three years in, we finally have our act together enough to kick off our prospect vote so the end doesn’t run into the regular season.
Here’s how 2018 wrangled out — all 42 picks. Also, here’s an archive of every article in the 2018 series. Here’s how 2019 came together, all 50 picks, and the archive as well.
You’ll recall an odd Russian-bot sacking of our vote at some point last year around pick No. 10 or so, and we reduced the number of names on the ballot from 25 to five. Fingers crossed, we’ll put 10 players on the ballot for each round this year. There are some cursory stats attached to help you out in your decision-making, but all the great bio writing from WSM you’re used to seeing here is over at South Side Hit Pen, as we count down the Top 100 White Sox Prospects over there.
By starting our vote here and the Top 100 countdown at SSHP at the same time, by the time the SSHP Top 100 has counted from 100 to 50, this SSS poll vote will have counted down from 1 to 50. We’ll meet in the middle, with the SSS poll vote factoring in the order of our final 50 prospects.
Sound cool? Now, get voting!
After an extremely tight prior round, Yermín Mercedes won this ballot handily, with 25% (76 of 309 votes). Mercedes was our 42nd prospect in 2018, 49th (50th in the Top Prospect vote) in 2019.
Last year’s No. 14 prospect was Steele Walker.
Mercedes is the second catcher among our top 14 prospects:

The logjams that marked much of the previous ballot also broke up, leaving no ties this round. Voting was still tight overall, with four votes separating No. 3 from No. 5. Tyler Johnson managed exactly the same vote total as last round, while newcomer Seby Zavala slotted in at No. 9:

Also, we have our final Hall of Fame Veteran’s Committee ballot up at South Side Hit Pen, so please take a second to click over and weigh in on our first-ever such vote.
