We haven’t seen him for awhile, but Michael Kopech is the definitive pick as SSS’s No. 3 prospect.

Round 3 was such a runaway, it got called early. After two nail-biters to start the proceedings, the poll was due for a blowout — and it got one.

Michael Kopech, true to form and as expected, outclassed the field, sprinting to a huge lead last night and never looking back. The fireballer finished with 70% support (180 of 259 votes). Last year, Kopech was named the No. 2 prospect in our poll, taking 57% of the vote.

In the 2020 poll, Nick Madrigal finished third, with 70% of the vote.

In other movement this year, Jared Kelley leapfrogged Yoelkis Céspedes — barely. And the entire second half of the poll is a cluster of no-votes, which should break up in days to come.

Newcomer Norge Vera earned two votes, good for fifth place at 0.2%.

A $1.5 million deal was reached last February, but the postponement of the July international signing period means Vera to the White Sox can only be made official next month.
