Lucas Giolito managed to pull off a no-hitter this evening against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This masterpiece also happened to be the first no-hitter to occur during this odd season. Given the length of the season, I would not be surprised if it turned out to be the last no-hitter of the year, as well. Giolito’s final line: nine innings, no runs, no hits, one walk, 13 strikeouts. Unbelievable. What a time to be a White Sox fan.
After the 4-0 victory, the White Sox are 18-12, and they have moved into a tie for second place in the AL Central. Their chances of making the playoffs for the first time since 2008 just keep improving.
The most recent White Sox no-hitter was the Philip Humber perfect game in 2020. The White Sox are in a much better position going forward than they were on that sunny day back in April 2012.
