SSS Cryptosoxery #4

This week’s word quiz comes from an actually self-effacing new guy

This week, we wander into White Sox baseball by way of hockey.

But first, the answer to last week’s quiz, which came by way of stupidity:

Adam and Drake are probably the most respected people I’ve ever played with — Adam Eaton

No White Sox fan needs the last name of Adam and Drake, which is unfortunately impossible to forget, even if this quote isn’t the most notorious of Eaton’s idiocies about them. That would be when he called Drake — who was then 14 — a leader in the White Sox clubhouse.

Good to know our new/old right fielder is a very stable genius.

Not all our newbies are so aggressively dumb, though — witness this week’s quote:

RP’V YHVZ BKKENXKW BV BOO RPOO, TRXSR BIIBAPKZON X BQ, BSSEAJXKW ZE QEVZ IPEIOP. — OXBQ RPKJAXCV

This quote actually begins about a Montreal Canadien, but shows the speaker isn’t arrogant, unlike, oh, maybe, some manager or other.

For those new to cryptoquizzes, they’re simple letter substitutions, the same substitutions all the way through — an A might represent a Y, or a P an F, and so on. Solving is based on finding the most common letters, like “E” and common word forms, like a single letter being an “A” or “I.”

The fact that the speaker is a White Sox newbie should give you a good start. The answer next week.
