Welcome back, White Sox fans, for the final series before the postseason starts. Tonight, the South Siders (91-68) are facing off against the Detroit Tigers (76-83), who have been marginally better than in years past. A.J. Hinch came in this season and did the best he could with what he was given.
The Tigers are 5-5 in their last 10 games and 34-44 on the road this season. Against Central opponents, they’re 29-44. The White Sox are 6-4 in their last 10 and 51-27 at home. They have clinched first in the AL Central, while the Tigers are set to finish in third place.
Lance Lynn is facing off against Wily Peralta. Lynn is currently 10-6 with a 2.72 ERA and 72 strikeouts going into his final start of the regular season. Peralta is 4-4 with a 3.08 ERA and 55 strikeouts. Peralta has not faced the White Sox since 2015, when he played for the Brewers.
Robbie Grossman leads the Tigers in home runs (23), while Jonathan Schoop leads in batting average (.280) and RBIs (84). José Abreu leads for the White Sox in both home runs (29) and RBIs (113), while Tim Anderson is running away with a batting average (.301).
Here’s how everyone is lining up tonight:
Chicago starters own a 2.45 ERA (17 ER/62.1 IP) with 66 strikeouts and just six homers allowed in the last 13 games.
