It was a White Sox-heavy prospect day for the Desert Dogs, but like Glendale overall, they mostly did not do well.
On offense, Yoelqui Céspedes got the start but went 0-for-2 on the day. That included a strikeout, as he is now hitting .167 in the AFL. José Rodríguez came in at just about the same time Céspedes left the game. Unfortunately, Rodríguez too went 0-for-2, but he didn’t strike out, at least. So, not a great day on offense.
And not a very good start on the pitching side. Johan Dominguez started the game, and only got one out. He allowed five hits and five runs, including two homers. That really set the tone for the game, and Glendale could not come back for the win. The bullpen was much better, at least among Sox pitchers. J.B. Olson went 2 1⁄3 innings and allowed one run while striking out three. McKinley Moore did the best, though, as he continues his scoreless fall. Moore went 1 1⁄3 innings without allowing a run today, but did struggle a bit. He walked two batters and allowed a hit, so he could not complete a second inning of work.
