After starting spring training with a 7-2 loss to the Brewers, the White Sox are back in action this afternoon. This is a road matchup against the Angels (1-0), which happens to be the way the White Sox will open the 2021 regular season.

Alex McRae, a 27-year-old righthander, will start for the White Sox. McRae was drafted in the 10th round in the 2014 draft by the Pirates and has pitched 36 major league innings. McRae has had major league stints every year from 2018-20 but only brief ones.

33-year-old righty Alex Cobb will start for the Angels on the mound. Last month, the Orioles traded Cobb, along with cash, to the Angels for Jahmai Jones. Throughout his career, Cobb has accumulated 11.2 FanGraphs WAR with a 3.88 ERA, 4.05 FIP, and 3.81 xFIP. In 2020, Cobb posted a 4.30 ERA and accumulated 0.6 fWAR during the shortened season.

The starting lineups are as follows:

Unlike yesterday, there is no television or radio coverage in the Chicagoland area. First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. Central at Tempe Diablo Stadium in Tempe.
