Happy Sunday! Today we get an extra hour of sunlight as well as a baseball game. Could back-to-back wins be on the schedule?
The White Sox got the victory yesterday, improving their record to a whopping 2-8-3. It was nice to finally see some offensive power, which hopefully can be carried into today against the Oakland Athletics. The last time we saw this team things were quite different, but at least it will be nice to see Liam Hendriks in the right threads this time, instead of knocking us out of the playoffs.
The game will be at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, and Lance Lynn will be making another appearance starting for the South Siders. In his last performance against the Padres, we saw a mixture of strikeouts, walks, and even a regular season preview of Lynn getting fired up after getting out of a bases-loaded inning. I expect he will come out with that same intensity today.
As for the rest of the team, here is today’s full lineup:

Luis Robert will be getting a break after his first highlight-reel home run yesterday, but the first half of the lineup is still looking to do some offensive damage. Tim Anderson will lead it off followed by Andrew Vaughn, who will hopefully increase his already-high .364 batting average. Zack Collins is catching, and Nick WIlliams will be incorporated into the outfield.
As for the Athletics, the South Siders will be facing former White Sox farmhand Frankie Montas, who has already secured a spring training win and still has not allowed a run. If that name sounds doubly familiar, it’s because the last time we saw him was when he started Game 3 of the 2020 Wild Card Series.
Their starting lineup reads as:
- M. Canha, LF
- J. Lowrie, 2B
- M. Olson, 1B
- M. Chapman, 3B
- M. Moreland, DH
- S. Piscotty, RF
- E. Andrus, SS
- B. Reed, CF
- A. Garcia, C
Game time is 3:05 p.m. CT. No listening in on the radio today, but the game will be televised nationally on MLB Network.
