After an exciting 4-4 tie yesterday in which Carlos Rodón and Garrett Crochet looked terrific, the White Sox enter with a 6-10-5 record this spring. The South Siders will be facing the Giants, who are 8-9-3 in Cactus League play.
The White Sox’s ace, Lucas Giolito, will start on the mound. In 12 2⁄3 innings this spring, Giolito has a 2.13 ERA, a 0.789 WHIP, and hitters only have a .515 OPS against him. Last Monday, manager Tony La Russa announced that Giolito will be the Opening Day starter against the Angels.
Kevin Gausman, a 30-year-old righthander with limited MLB experience (84 2⁄3 innings), will start for San Francisco. Gausman, who was drafted fourth overall in 2012 by Baltimore, has a 2.08 ERA this spring.
