It’s the Return of the Mac vs. Lance Lynn

MLB: Chicago White Sox-Workouts
Lance Lynn looks to continue his formidable spring start.

Any subtext in a spring training game is a luxury, let alone plot lines as deep as this Padres-White Sox game.

You have the matchup of veteran arms with Lance Lynn facing off against a still-pissed Blake Snell. Of course, there’s the White Sox facing off against two guys that in an alternative reality became a part of the organization's long-term plans — Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. Unfortunately for viewers, Tatis is off today, so the Sox will have to make do only facing off against the $300 million man.

On the home team side, the vaunted White Sox offense has been largely silent this spring. Of the likely players to break with the active roster, only Luis Robert, Leury García, and Andrew Vaughn have shown consistency. If you’re into backup catchers, Jonathan Lucroy, Zack Collins, and Yermín Mercedes have all done well as the roster depth continues to take shape.

Here are the lineups from each side:

The first pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. CST at Camelback Ranch on Whitesox.com, YouTube, and Facebook (in-market only).
