2021 South Side Sox Top Prospect No. 50: Bailey Horn

Quite an enigma, as the last Chicago pick in an enigmatic draft — but a ton of promise

Bailey Horn

Left-Handed Starting Pitcher
6´2´´
212 pounds
Age: 23
SSS rank among all left-handed starting pitchers in the system: 4

Bailey Horn was the fifth-round choice (out of Auburn University) for the White Sox in last year’s five-round draft. Does that make him the equivalent of a 40th-rounder in a “normal” draft? Not a chance. Horn was the third-most talented player picked by the White Sox — although a somewhat distant third behind plum picks Garrett Crochet and Jared Kelley.

But don’t listen to my yakkin’ about Horn, listen to me pump Darren Black with questions about him on draft night 2020! Go ahead and take a look at our conversation and read his piece on Horn at Sports Illustrated from last year, because nothing much has officially changed since then.

While Horn’s pedigree could see him advance to Single-A this year, expect him to get his feet wet in Arizona to begin his pro career.
